The saintly character of the Mahajans, the Great Souls Who have attained Krishna Posted on October 4, 2026October 4, 2026 By Muralidhar Das The concluding words of Sri Krishna Samhita, written by Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur: Although the devotional disposition of uttam-adhikari Vaishnavas, the great souls established in prema-bhakti, may outwardly assume the appearance of ordinary people engaged in worldly action, it is never mixed with karma. Whatever actions they perform are directed solely toward liberation from the bondage of action; their actions are never undertaken for the sake of gaining the fruits of action. Likewise, although their devotional life may at times appear to be the cultivation of knowledge, it is never mixed with speculative jnana, for the impurities of impersonalism and the doctrine of an undifferentiated Absolute never contaminate their spotless realization. Although knowledge and renunciation naturally belong to them, they do not regard either as limbs of bhakti, for it has been established that the true nature of devotion is altogether distinct from both jnana and karma. Whether appearing as a farmer among farmers, a merchant among merchants, a servant among servants, a commander among soldiers, a husband to his wife, a father or mother to a child, a wife to her husband, a son or daughter to parents, a brother among brothers, a judge to the guilty, a king among his subjects, a subject before his king, an arbiter among scholars, a physician to the sick, or even a patient before a physician, these broad-hearted devotees of prema-bhakti remain, amidst all relationships, the ideal person and the object of reverence for the entire community of devotees. By their causeless mercy we continually pray, with single-hearted longing, to attain the shelter of the lotus feet of Sri Sri Radha-Krishna, which alone constitutes their everlasting treasure. O exalted souls endowed with prema-bhakti! Shower upon our hearts, hardened by argumentation and tormented by worldly attachment, the cooling waters of your association, and your grace. Then may the inconceivable and wondrous truth of the Divine Couple reveal itself within our hearts, purified, softened, and melted by that mercy. Uncategorized
